Treatments Offered

Manual Therapy

A hands on treatment technique used to improve mobility in restricted joints, connective tissues and muscles.  Decreases pain and inflammation, promotes tissue repair, improves range of motion facilitating movement and improving function.

IMS / Dry Needling

Intramuscular Stimulation or Dry Needling uses acupuncture needles to treat a variety of neuro-musculoskeletal pain syndromes caused by irritation/pressure on the nerves which causes muscles to become shortened and hypersensitive.

Traction/Spinal Decompression

A motorized traction device gently stretches the spine taking pressure off the spinal disks. Promotes bulging/herniated disks to retract, taking pressure off nerves that may have been compressed.  Decompression allows movement of nutrient-rich fluids into the disks so they can heal.  It is also helpful to mobilize stiff joints, stretch muscles and thus, effectively decrease or eliminate back pain.

To help decrease inflammation, pain and muscle spasm and promote healing, a number of therapeutic modalities may be used such as ultrasound, electrotherapy (NMES, TENS and IFC), cryotherapy, moist hot packs and wax.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Release (Graston Technique)

Use of specialized instruments to locate and effectively break down fascial restrictions and scar tissue. Using controlled microtrauma to affected soft tissue causes the stimulation of a local inflammatory response which initiates re-absorption of scar tissue and facilitates a cascade of healing activities resulting in remodeling of affected soft tissue structures. Adhesions within the soft tissue which may have developed as a result of surgery, repeated strain or other mechanisms, are broken down allowing full functional restoration to occur.

Therapeutic Exercise

A specially designed exercise program will help you to take control of your condition, prevent re-injury and progress towards your performance and rehabilitation goals. Includes sport movement analysis for athletes to ensure the program is geared to help them improve technique and address repetitive strain injury.

Custom Orthotics

A custom orthotic is a device designed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look like insoles, but are biomechanical medical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance. Custom orthotics work on your feet much like glasses work on your eyes - they reduce stress and strain on your body by bringing your feet back into proper alignment. The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to re-align the foot by redirecting and reducing certain motion that takes place during the gait cycle. Custom orthotics fit into your shoes as comfortably as an insole - and they have the advantage of having been made from precise imprints/casts of your feet.

Women's Health-Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy

Pelvic floor physiotherapists help women rehabilitate their pelvic floor muscles. These muscles can be weakened by childbirth, surgery, heavy lifting, being overweight, constipation or menopause.  This is a specialized branch of physiotherapy involving internal and external assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles and pelvic pain syndromes. The pelvic floor muscles are located between the hip bones and the sacrum, and they serve as a bowl to support the pelvic organs including the bladder, colon and uterus.
